It would be difficult to pinpoint the exact date that Hanna Nation began her paper line, GADABOUT. After finding the world held little without interest, she spent her youth admiring the objects she collects and illustrates today. Although some of her current illustrations were conceived before her eighteenth birthday, Hanna steadied her hand and began to search for subject matters of merit. What had begun as a compilation of timeless designs and depictions of distant cultures would come to resemble a company by the summer of 2008.
It is the attention to detail and definition that brings GADABOUT a unique distinction. Celebrating home and all that lies beyond, her designs often draw from cultural artistry, textiles, interior design, vintage books, fashion, hobby, and turn of phrase. Never forgetting to note the origins of her inspiration, clever captions and historic legends accompany each card. Monograms intermix with the motifs and fanciful fonts make personalization a must.
Since it’s founding, GADABOUT has delighted in its own definition. The collection remains what Hanna has found and what she endevours to find. It is glimpses of where she has been and where she hopes to venture. It is familiar and foreign, eclectic and classic. But most of all, it speaks of the life of a gad- about, a traveler, an aimless pleasure seeker and the first to put their pursuits to paper.
